Mary Atkinson is Campaigns and Networks Manager of the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI). The JCWI has a long history of supporting grassroots communities who status in the UK has been threatened and eroded by ever-changing immigration legislation. Their campaigning started in September 1967 in response to rising racism and the restrictions on movement that were being introduced by new legislation.  More recently, they have been focused on the Windrush Scandal, the impact of hostile environment policies and fighting against the government’s Rwanda plan.
