Thomas Tobierre worked in the UK for much of his life.  One day he was asked to evidence his right to work in the UK.  He did not have a copy of his birth certificate and had never had need of a passport. Around the stay time his mother passed away and his wife was diagnosed with stage four cancer. With the help of his daughter, Charlotte, he was eventually granted his Right to Work in 2018 but had been forced in the interim to dip into his savings, his redundancy money and his pension. When he first applied for compensation under the Windrush Compensation scheme he was offered just £3,000, and that only after the Home Office had twice lost his application.
